The logic of cloud-hosted desktops
Those of you who track Desktone and this blog know that lately we've been spending more time talking about cloud-hosted desktops. This is obviously due in part to the incredible dialogue that's surrounded cloud computing over the past year. However, it's also because we believe that cloud-hosted desktops can and will fundamentally change enterprise IT's willingness and ability to leverage cloud computing in the near term.
DaaS "Value Chain" - Webinar
Our fall/winter webinar series is off to a great start and we held the first event (as previously noted) on October 23rd. I thought it was an excellent session and you can find the recording here. We will be delivering the second webinar next Tuesday, November 11th at noon ET. We'll take the audience through the entire DaaS "value chain", first by having Michael Rose from IDC provide a market overview and then by having a customer (Pike County) and a service provider (IBM) talk about the benefits of DaaS, how the service is delivered and consumed, etc. Finally, we will have Paul Gaffney, our COO, talk about the role Desktone plays in all of this. It's shaping up to be another great event and we encourage you to register and tell your colleagues about it.
DaaS and Cloud Computing - Webinar
I am pleased to announce that we will be holding the first webinar of our recently annouced series this Thursday, October 23rd from 12 - 1pm ET. The topic is cloud-hosted desktops and we are excited to have three of the top minds from the analyst community on a panel to help you better understand this quickly emerging space. Joining me will be Rachel Chalmers from The 451 Group, Dana Gardner from Interarbor Solutions and Robin Bloor from Hurwitz & Associates. We think it's going to be an excellent webinar and a great start to the series. If you are interested in attending, please register. Looking forward to having you at the event.
Progressive thinking about DaaS
It's great to see some extremely thought provoking ideas emerging about DaaS and cloud-hosted desktops. There seem to be more and more really smart people thinking (and blogging) about this concept and its potential.

In addition to providing my own thoughts on DaaS and cloud computing (which I just did the prior post), I thought it would be nice to share other points of view on the topic. There have already been a number of references linking Desktone DaaS to cloud computing that have popped up in both the analyst and blogger communities and I wanted to start keeping a running list.
